What We Do

The needs of survivors and shelter staff are always changing and so we remain flexible and ready to provide all we can for them. Below are some of our committees and descriptions of what we provide to support the needs of survivors living at the shelter. Our Auxiliary is currently the sole provider of groceries for survivors and their children living at the shelter. We are able to provide items and support through fundraising.

Grocery Gatherers

Work with shelter staff on grocery list, shop and deliver groceries as well as clean out expired food and inventory the pantry as needed.

Clothes Closet

Work with HVH staff to tidy and manage inventory of linens/bedding, diapers, and clothing. Maintain inventory of needed items and submit updates for our Amazon Wish List.

Festive Facilitators

Support teams, plan agendas, draft calendars and facilitate monthly meetings. Liaison between HVH Auxiliary and CCS.

Financial Friends

Create and manage budget, work with CCS staff, present monthly budget report.

Welcome Bags

Plan, purchase, bag and deliver welcome bags for incoming adults, children and babies. Maintain inventory and submit updates for our Amazon Wish List.

Baskets of Love & Kids Club

Create baskets of goodies to show appreciation for the HVH shelter staff. Provide seasonal items for children such as valentines, spring crafts, and more.

Shop-aholics

Shop or order anytime there are “extra” things that are requested from the shelter staff.

Special Project:
Bedtime Stories

Create age-appropriate bok bags for children to use at the shelter and beyond. Keep inventory of items and submit updates for our Amazon Wish List.

On-Site Projects

Our members designed and helped coordinate renovation work for the residence units at the shelter - creating a relaxing and inviting spaces for healing. Updates included paint, furniture, bedding, wall decor and a bathroom renovation. A special thanks to Mario and his team from Aspen Color & Paint Works who has been wonderful to partner with and is dedicated to exceptional quality work.

Mountain-Inspired Residence Renovation

The children's playhouse was revamped with new paint, as well as a cushioned flooring. This project was funded in part by the Scripps Ranch Bridge Club.

Cozy Outdoor Furniture

We replaced aged and worn outdoor furniture so residents have a cozy and stylish place to spend time outside eating meals, relaxing and watching their children play.

We added a beautiful tile backsplash, cabinets under the sink and a new dishwasher. Our volunteers also worked to create a beautiful breakfast station and organize the pantry.

Kitchen Renovation

Common Area Beautification

This common living room area received a wonderful upgrade with a new sofa that was donated by a Scripps Ranch community member. Our Auxiliary members set the space so it is beautiful and inviting.

Laundry Room Revamp

The laundry room at Hidden Valley House shelter was in need of repair. Our Auxiliary was able to fund this revamp with additional money donated by two Scripps Ranch Bunco groups.

Presents for Parents

This gift station is full of blank cards, crafts and small gifts that children can choose and wrap to give their parent on Birthdays, Holidays or any special occasion.
